Reunions
10th Anniversary
JoLt’s tenth anniversary was marked by a dinner at the House of Commons. It was a grand occasion which was greatly enjoyed by everyone who came.
20th Anniversary
Jolt’s 20th anniversary was marked with a Family Fun Day on 7th June 2003. The event was sponsored by Hills Electrical & Mechanical who are one of our greatest and most loyal supporters. It was a fabulous day and absolutely wonderful to see so many JoLters and their families.
25th Anniversary – Silver Jubilee Ball – Saturday, 18th October 2008
On Saturday, 18th October 2008 we held a Silver Jubilee Ball at Harrow School as a way of bringing as many JoLters, trustees, supporters, etc together. Every JoLt expedition was represented, as were trustees (current and former), donors, parents, teachers, social workers and women who have participated in fundraising expeditions to raise money for JoLt.
The idea to have a Ball came from JoLters themselves as they wanted each expedition group to come together for a wonderful reunion and to have an excuse to dress up! JoLters travelled from all over the UK ( and France!) to attend. The room was beautifully decorated depicting ‘journeys of a lifetime’ to every corner of the world. A delicious meal was followed by dancing to live music. Frequently, Jolters took over the microphone and the singing.
Many thanks to all who attended and especially to the four people who organised the Ball (Perena Shryane, Casey Dalton, Chris Oliver and Mary Dunning).
25th Anniversary – London Bridges Walk – Sunday, 19th October 2008
About 55 brave souls, who wanted to experience once again the joy of sleeping on hard floors (a must on all JoLt expeditions), retired to Orley Farm School for the night. It was the early hours of Sunday morning before the last of us fell asleep but we still had to get up early to set off for the London Bridges Walk in aid of JoLt.
Over 80 people took part. The youngest was five years old and the oldest was 70+. Two mad JoLters, Tash and Jack from JoLt’08, enjoyed it so much that they went round twice! Sponsorship money is still coming in so we don’t know yet the total that was raised. What we do know is that everyone had a wonderful time and the weather was very kind to us. Many thanks to Lindsay Driscoll and Cheryl Lamford who helped organise the walk and to all the JoLt’08 leaders and other volunteers who acted as stewards at the start/finish and along the route.
